Question by Phillip C: Is the Nikon D40 a better starting camera or the new Nikon D3000 ?
I'm a beginner in photography ; and i'd like to start. What would be a better camera to start off with.
*Price is a factor in this too since the nikon d40 is like $ 200 cheaper.

I would recommend the D3000 kit with lens ($ 529.00 including free shipping from camerakings.com). The D3000 is a very easy camera for a beginner to learn and use (has a nice guide feature), not to mention it just came out on the market so it will hold its resale value very well. Also, the D3000 kit lens has (VR) vibration reduction technology, thus making the D3000 a great value. Unless you can get the D40 kit new for way under $ 467.00 (D3000 $ 529.00 - $ 200.00 = $ 329.00), then the D3000 represent a better value. Take a look the links below for a great review of the D3000 and to purchase the camera.
